AMRA 2009 Rules

All AMRA events will follow the 2009 AMRA rules and any amended rules during the year.

MEMBERSHIP

AMRA membership is required of all racers participating in AMRA sanctioned events. Other club membership cards will be allowed to establish current ranking only.

All racers must provide I.D. when signing up for membership to verify age group. Children under 16 must provide copy of birth certificate at signup and a copy will be retained by the AMRA.

Cut off date is Jan. 1 for all youth classes

PROMOTION

All promotions shall be reviewed by the AMRA riders committee.
Riders committee has final say about any promotion.

Mini Classes- all mini riders will advance to the novice class when they move to the big bikes unless they finished in the lower 1/3 of the mini class. If a rider finishes in the lower 1/3 of the class the may be moved in the beginner class.

Beginner Classes- All beginner racers if possible must provide a current member card showing their ranking. Riders will be promoted after 6 top 5 finishes or 1 full year. There will be a sliding scale based on the amount of riders in each event. After 6 top 5 finishes or 1 full season the rider will advance to novice. Promotions will occur at the end of series.

Novice Classes- All racers participating in AMRA events must provide a current novice card from the AMRA. An AMRA member in the Novice Class will be promoted after 7 top 5 finishes using sliding scale based on amount of riders in event. Promotions will occur at the end of the series. Promotions may be delayed for riders qualifying for Amateur National events.

Amateur Classer- All Amateur racers will be allowed one full season of racing before points will start to be accumulated for advancement. You must be 16 years of age to be promoted to expert. Promotions to expert will occur at the end of the season. No advancement mid season.

RACERS RULES

Racing numbers- Racers are responsible for displaying their assigned AMRA numbers on 3 locations of the bike. Numbers should be 5 and be visible to the scorekeepers in all conditions at all times. Your AMRA number will take precedence, if there is a duplicate number, at AMRA events. Number plate backing colors are as follows, Expert (white backing), Amateur (yellow backing), Novice (black backing)

Bikes All classes are open or modified. Bikes must run in class of proper displacement (85cc 2 stroke-150F 4 stroke), (125cc 2 stroke-250F 4 stroke) (250cc 2 stroke- 450F 4 stroke)

Minors- All riders under the age of 18 must have a parent or authorized adult present at signup. Racers entered in age group classes need to have birth certificates at sign up and upon request from any track official.

Officials- A AMRA official will be appointed at each event. A protest must be filed within 30 min after the race. The AMRA officials decisions are final.

Starts- Starting procedure
A) 2 minute board goes up signaling riders to start their engines
B) 1 minute board goes up signaling 60 seconds.

The board going sideways signals 0-5 seconds the gate will drop.

Only the racer and his bike may establish a position on the starting line. In the case of a staggered start, the faster group will pick position first. The next group may pick a open slot or line up behind the rider of the first group, after the first group leaves the line the second group may pull into the position for staging.
If a race is red flagged the riders must return there original position on the line.

Practice Riders must practice in the same class that they signed up in. Each rider will be allowed one practice for the days event.

Flags-
A) Yellow flags: are caution flag, when a track official waives the yellow flag riders must not jump or make a pass.
B) White flag with Red Cross: If this flag is displayed by track officials you must take extra precautions because this means that a rider is down on the track and injured. The penalty is at the discretion of the official.
C) Red Flag: This flag is displayed when a race is stopped. Riders return to the line at the same position of the first start.
D) Black flag: Disqualified
E) White flag: this is displayed to indicate last lap of race.
F) Checker flag: This flag is displayed at the finish line indicating the end of your race.
